And the children sang....

Sitting today reflecting on my class on Wednesday night - the power of Christ through music and through children.

I teach the 5-9 year old boys/girls at church and on Wednesday night after having a great youth revival this past weekend I asked them what they wanted from God. --- What they told me amazed me -- they wanted to have a worship service in class!!!! So that's exactly what we did! Instead of just going through the motions of a lesson, fun time, and snack, we had church for there age group.

My mind reflects at the beautiful picture of worship that these kids showed. There was one of my students that really portrayed this to me. One young girl – she is 8 years old –after we decided to sing the song “Amazing Grace My Chains are Gone” – as we began to sing this song this 8 year old began to close her eyes, lift her hands and just pour her heart out in worship to her Jesus. That song is ringing in my head as I sit here today....

“Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me, I once was lost but now I’m found, was blind but now I see, My chains are gone, I’ve been set free, My God, My Savior, has ransomed me, and like a flood his mercy reigns, unending love, Amazing Grace”

Oh the joy that fills my heart and soul when I see the worship on those children’s face – and just knowing how important worship is to our Savior – and knowing that we must come to Him as a little child. I can only imagine the sweet aroma of praise that went up before God on that Wednesday night all because…..the children sang…..

Music a passion for worship

Very clear to some I’m sure is the fact that I love music. To me music soothes the savage beast. Music finds a place deep within my heart, deep within my soul, a place where I don’t let a lot of people into. Music is where my passion is. Oh sure for me there is a passion for a lot of things, but music is my passion that brings out my worship of Christ.
When I think of worshipping my Savior, many things run through my mind and are in my heart, but nothing brings out praise and honor to Him, my dear Creator, than a song in my heart. Christian music has always brought to me a way of communicating with the Master when I can’t express exactly what I want to say, well, there’s always a song that can speak those words deep within my heart.
Songs like Redeemer by Nicole C Mullen; the words to that song are so powerful to me, I love to just be by myself and singing that song with everything with in me. “Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning, and who told the ocean you can only come this far, and who showed the moon, where to hide until evening, whose words alone can catch a falling star. I know my Redeemer lives!”
Just singing the words to that song in my head as I type them just stirs something within me. I don’t know about you but I know that no matter what comes my way I KNOW THAT I KNOW THAT I KNOW THAT I KNOW, THAT MY REDEEMER LIVES!!!” He framed the worlds and spoke life into me. What more could we ask for, it’s by far way more than I deserved! Yet He loves me and that to me places a passion in my heart for worship unto Him more than ever before!
So it’s your turn….what song have you heard that has made you passionate about worship or about your relationship with Jesus Christ? Do you have a song that has spoken to you recently?

Only the World

Have you heard the song by Mandisa, “Only the World”? Oh my goodness if you haven’t you need to. I absolutely love this song right now, it has ministered to me in so many ways.

Most recently the way I won’t forget that it has ministered to me is through a Girls Sleepover we had at the end of January. My cousin Jennifer spoke to the girls that night about how they needed to surrender everything to God because time is so short and things are wrapping up quickly and “It’s only the world” and were going to be in Heaven (if we know, love and serve Jesus) I sang this song to those girls before my cousin spoke and I tell you – I can’t sing it like Mandisa – but the words to that song ring in my ears how powerful to think:

“Been a hard one, been a bad one, been a tough one, been a sad one, it’s been one of those days that keep chipping away at my heart, nothing new here, it’s what I do here, it’s a stereotypical day in the life, I’m surrounded by all of the pain in the strife, but I know it’s all right.

It’s only the world I’m living in, only the day I’ve been giving, there ain’t no way I’m giving in ‘cause it’s only the world, I know the best is still yet to come, even when my days in the world are done, there’s gonna be so much more, than only the world to me”

Don’t the words to the 1st verse and the chorus of that song make you want to get up and shout – it sure does me! When I think of that song I think you know it’s true, no matter what our day has been like, no matter what we are going through. It’s only the world and the best is yet to come. Heaven is not that far off for the believer, I believe with all my heart that God is getting ready to tell his angel Gabriel, blow the trumpet, and look at Jesus and say, “Son go get my children”. Whoa! Glory! I can’t hardly wait!
