Mandisa - Overcomer (Lyric Video)

Sorry this post has been so long in the making....to say the least this has been a year for the books....I've thought about this group so many times...Music is my therapy and it has seemed almost as if the devil has been attacking my time of being able to get focused back with listening to music....stressed and depressed have not even begin to describe my feelings as of late.

As a children's minsiter at my church, I have struggled so many Sunday's of late trying to get a "message" together for my kids...which I adore. I'm also our Praise team leader and some days it felt like a horrible fight in my mind trying to get songs picked out to lead people into God's presence.

Someone told me shortly after I took after as leader of the Praise team at our church that they could see a different and stronger anointing on me and they were amazed...well apparantly that just sparked another thing for the enemy to attack in my life. I'm sure you have all had those days!! I sat here this morning at work and I was feeling defeated, tried, and just down right overwhelmed, I've been listening to a few new songs but like I said I just couldn't shake the feelings I was dealing with...I'm still fighting those things but I do feel like now I have some ammunition to go in to the fight. One I sat a couple Sunday's ago now and listened to a message by Pastor Melvin and it Stirred my heart (which is ironic for me because my children's minister at church is called STIR) listening to Pastor Melvin talk about the children, gave me a burst of energy and ideas and I felt like I caught a breath.

In the same regard that happened to me this morning with three emails...one from NeNe and two from Karen...they were talking about a new cd that just hit the stores and I'll be honest I downloaded the title track a couple weeks ago but hadn't listened to it all the way through...well today I did....it read my mail...and I hope if you have been struggling at all that it reads your's too. o matter what we are facing in life there is one thing we need to know, we are Overcomer's...why because God says we are, and because as a saying I read yesterday say's "When you are feeling like you are drowning in life's problems just remember that your lifeguard walks on water!!!" Today let's purpose -- I know I am -- that as this Mandisa song I'm linking to you were not going under because we are an Overcomer!!!

Be Blessed!!!

How we used to be or was......

This week we have a special "guest writer" - Enjoy this word!

While in prayer this word came to me.
That; that was "meaning how we used to be or was"
not to determine what is or to be.
Meaning your history no matter how bad or where you came from is not to influence where you are going in your destiny in God.
It is God that calls things that be not as though they were. Remember it was God that called Abram' Abraham' meaning a father of multitude before he had children. God knows endings as well as beginnings.
God is interested in restoration as well as his destiny for our lives fulfilled. He sees what we can be, knowing where we are even now. He sees the potential in us.
If we as a body of Christ are interested in God's heart that's where it is at.
So a warning to the body of Christ; there will be those that will come in with a bad start that we could reject with gossip and with judgmental attitudes and put them down. But God is raising up leaders who are willing to get messy in order to see a fulfilled destiny in there lives.
Remember it is not where you was that will determine your fulfilled purpose in the plan of God.

Nobody Greater....

The past week has been a devastating time in so many people lives because of the Tornado that hit Glade Spring and surrounding areas. The ones that wasn’t hit by the
Tornado has been crying along with those that have suffered loss.

We lost a family member because of the tornado and we have been mourning our loss. There were 5 in the home when the tornado hit. My cousin Barbara was found in the debres of her own home dead. Her son (Dale) was found laying face down and wasn’t able to move, his wife Anna was found out from their home. The two grandkids Cody and LeAnn managed to walk to the subway looking for help. A truck driver seen them and put them up in his truck and tried to keep them warm by wrapping towels around them. He allowed them to use his cell phone to call for help. Dale is still in the hospital
with a broke neck, shoulder and damage to his back. His wife Anna also has a broke neck with cuts and bruises. LeAnn’s arm was broke and had to have surgery on it. Cody escaped with cuts and bruises. Remember them in your prayers.

When tragedy strikes so many times we question “WHY” did this have to happen. Barbara’s sister called her and ask them to come to her house when they were warned
of the tornado. Barbara told her they would just stay where they were and that God would take care of them.

“Why” did this have to happen to her when she was “trusting” God and for others that didn’t even claim to “know” God as their Lord, they survived the storm. We are human and we always have questions to circumstances. In the Bible: Matthew 5:45 (King James Version)……. for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

God is no respect of person, he loves us all the same, saved or lost. When thinking about what Barbara said right before the storm, “ God will take care of us” and looking at the spiritual side, how much better care than to be in the arms of the Lord.

This world is not our home and we are only passing thru, but sometimes we forget and think we are to be here forever. To be a child of God, going home to Heaven is our goal and we should celebrate when our saved loved ones close their eyes here on earth to open them in heaven. Sure we will miss them, but if we are ready then we will join them one day soon for a grand reunion where we will never have to be separated again.

Every since the tornado has hit, the song “NoBody Greater” has been strong on my heart. The words in the song says:

Nobody can heal... like you canOh most holy one you are the Great I AmAwesome in all your ways and mighty is your handYou are He who carried out redemption's planYou are He who carried out redemption's plan

As bad as the Tornado was… how strong it had to been for it do demolish homes, move big storage trailers from one side of the interstate to the other. Think of how much
Bigger and stronger and Greater God is:

Searched all over... couldn't find nobodyI looked high and low... still couldn't find nobodyNobody greater... nobody greater no... nobody greater than you.

I really believe that something great is going to come out of the situation in Glade Spring, Va. Everyone has been so good to help out and send in food, clothes and money. It seems that all has come together to help those in need. People has come to your door and ask if you need anything. Sunday three different groups came to my mom’s house and gave her a meal. The fire department stopped in front of the house and handed us a case of water and a case of gator aid. Tents are set up all over town giving free food to anyone that needs o/r wants it. Buisness have donated supplies and their time to help clean up.

This is the way it should be all the time, even when it isn’t a disaster. You can see and feel the togetherness in this small hometown. And you can see God’s Love and greatness in the mist of it all. NOBODY GREATHER THEN YOU GOD!

Stronger

WOW what a time this has been over the last several months! Well let's not even say months lets say years, cause when I face reality it's been a rough rough rough time since September of 2009. So many many things have went on in my life since then, I won't even begin to share on here all the things good or bad that have happened. The thing is I was listening to a Mandisa song the other day and it really hit home with me on where I have been for the last 2 years. The song is called Stronger. Here's what has occurred in my mind while even now listening to that song! You always here people say that God will not put more on you that you can bear, well that's not exactly what the scripture says. What the scripture says is this 1 Corinthians 10:13 says in the New Living Translation - - - The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure. So I have laughed about this scripture when I hear people saying it to me and I think ok God you must trust me an extreme amount to put everything on me that you have and then I realize if He thinks I can handle all this - well then what He is walking me through is really making me Stronger. I sure don't feel like it in days I have been going through but let me say I have to encourage you that even though the trials seem overwhelming to you - know that what you are going through is only making you stronger!

This little light of mine

So welcome to the first blog of 2011. Wow can you believe it only took six days to get a new blog up.

This morning I was listening to a song by Addison Road called this little light of mine. It was such a powerful reminder to me that we need to be a light into this world and let it shine brightly and to not hide it under a bush.

Next week our church is going to be doing a 21 day fast and for most of us it will be the Daniel Fast. This made me think about the children I teach in STIR student ministries at the church and as I began talking with them about the fast they wanted to participate.

So I became really excited to hear their excitement about wanting to do this fast. It wasn't just that though, it was the fact that children are who Jesus taught us we should come to Him as and so it makes me excited to see what is going to happen by their participation in this fast, and also to know their excitement about the new name we gave the children's ministry.

So all the things that you have been facing lately. Just take a second and realize that we need to let our lights shine, and whatever your going through, the light that we are shining is their for you, and Christ can and will take care of everything, and just rely on Him. He is equipping us in this journey and the storms we face today will be fuel to add to our flame as we let our lights shine into the future.

Blessing

Stand Still

The last few weeks of my life have been a little more stressful than normal. Recently my Poppaw was told that they had found some cancer cells in his lymphnodes and so its been a whirlwind of doctor visits for him and uncertainity of having to deal with that awful word called cancer.

This morning as I was sitting talking to my Mommaw the phone rang here at their house and it was one of my aunts. As they were talking Mommaw mentioned a song that she has been standing on lately and the words of that song just begin to resonate in my heart and mind. Its a song that the Isaacs sing and it is so true of where I am living my life right now.

The song says Stand still and let God move, standing still is hard to do, when you feel that you have reached the end He'll make a way for you so stand still and let God move.

I don't know where you are in your life or what you are going through but let me just take the time to encourage you this morning and say no matter what you are going through, just stand still and let God move. You know that He sees the bigger picture and He is really making a way for you. Ephesians 6:13 in the Message Bible says "Be prepared. You're up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it's all over but the shoutin you'll be on your feet." That scripture this morning just spoke to me -- can't you just see in your mind God standing in Heaven just feeding you one weapon after another to fight off the attacks of the enemy and the weaker you get the closer he comes and the bigger the weapon He gives you to fight the attack off - then when you have been fighting all of a sudden you feel it and begin to see it -- there's the breakthrough - and as tired and battle weary as you are - you are still standing on your feet -- maybe not in your own power -- maybe God has you propped up in His arms -- but your standing and your safe and you've fought through the battle -- and victory is just in sight!

STAND STILL AND LET GOD MOVE!!!

So it's defintely been a while since I've gotten to sit down and just blog my thought to you. It's not that I have been overly busy but things have just been happening that I will go into details later about. For those who know me know that for the last year I have been unemployed and have not had any luck whatsoever finding a job or even getting an interview for a job. I have cried and been frustrated over this but at the same time I have been in full God trusting mode. I haven't felt worried over not having a job maybe I should be I mean yes I have been frustrated and did a lot of crying about it but I've not been worried because I know that God is taking care of me and I fully and completely trust Him. I have always known and find that when I'm feeling down about not having a job that usually God places someone in my life to say an encouraging word, or a hear a song, or I read a scripture in the Bible and I know that it's God's way of continuing to show me that He cares.
God is always showing how He cares for me and for that I am so grateful because with the being down about being unemployed it restores my faith in myself which I don't have a lot of.
No matter what you are going through or facing all we need to do is put our trust and our faith in Jesus Christ. I know that because I have a relationship with Him and I live for Him that He is taking care of me and He will defintely do the same for you if you just allow Him to.
