Call on Jesus

It seems here lately in my life, that the spiritual attacks on my soul have come more often. Sometimes I feel like I can't even catch my breath because I'm getting hit with one thing after another. It's in these times in my life that I know the one thing I need to do is run to my source.

Who is my source you might ask? Well I'll tell you who my source is. He is the Creator of the universe, He knew me before I even was born, He took me out of the dirt and pit I was in called sin and set my feet upon the solid rock. My source is not in man, my source is in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost.

One of my favorite songs says it perfectly to me, it's by Nicole C Mullen, the chorus starts by saying "When I call on Jesus, all things are possible!" It's absolute truth -- when I call on Jesus - those spiritual attacks that leave me breathless - they may knock me back -- they may cause me to have battle scars -- but what they can't do is knock me down -- I say that because One day there was a man named Jesus who carried His cross to Calvary -- and He hung between Heaven and earth and He was nailed to a cross, beaten and bruised, For me and FOR YOU! He died so that I can live and when I call on His name -- He can take away the pain - when I call on His name -- He takes care of the situation. My cross is not so heavy when the Lord is carrying it with me!

No matter what you are going through in your life - the simple answer that so many over look is -- the one who can take care of the problem is just waiting on you to call on Him -- so "Call on Jesus!"

PRAISE & WORSHIP

Acts 16:23-26 "And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:(24) Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.(25) And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.(26) And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed."

We so often hear of Praise and Worship. Now a days it is very popular in churches in songs that are sung. What does it really mean when we say that we have "praise and worship" in our
church or even in our homes.

Praise and Worship is more then singing a song, enjoying the beat and even lifting our hands
to Heaven while we sing or listen to the song. When we Praise and really mean it from the heart we are elevating ourselves up into God's presence and is the door we enter into for worship. That is why we have Praise and Worship leaders and teams that sing and ushers in the presence and gets the congregations mind focus up on the Lord. The Praise team (if they are anointed and have a sincere heart) leads the way for the presence of God to move among the people and prepare the way for the minister to bring forth the word of God.

The Bible says that God inhabits in the praises of His people (Psalms 22:3). In other words, God "dwells" in the atmosphere of His praise. The psalmist writes, "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name" (Psalms 100:4).
Praise means "to commend, to applaud or magnify." For the Christian, praise to God is an expression of worship, lifting-up and glorifying the Lord. It is an expression of humbling ourselves and centering our attention upon the Lord with heart-felt expressions of love, adoration and thanksgiving. High praises bring our spirit into a pinnacle of fellowship and intimacy between ourselves and God — it magnifies our awareness of our spiritual union with the most high God. Praise transports us into the realm of the supernatural and into the power of God. "Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance" (Psalms 89:15).

So lets start today to Praise and Worship God in our everyday life.

Open up the door to go into his presence and just love on the Lord in your own way.

Don't want to lose my soul

One of my all time favorite songs right now is by TobyMac – it’s called “Lose My Soul”. I love how it starts on his live album – how on the back of his daddy’s real-estate business card as a child it said what does it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his soul.
That statement has been ringing in my heart and mind a lot here of late. Part of the chorus says “ I don’t want to gain the whole world and lose my soul don’t want to walk away” I was thinking about that song and I thought, how true those words should be for every believer. Really what does it profit anyone to gain the whole world if there going to lose their soul and spend eternity in hell. I want to spend eternity in the presence of Jehovah – and you know you can’t really ever “spend” eternity because it’s eternity – its infinite! It’s like I heard my cousin Doug preach a few weeks back – when Jesus died on the cross for us – everything we needed was in just one drop of His precious blood that He shed for us. He when He died on Calvary shed way more than just one little drop of blood so why would I want to Lose My Soul when such a great price was paid for it.
Another part of that song says “Lord I’m relying on you; I’m relying on you Lord – cause I don’t want to gain the whole world and lose my soul!”
It’s my prayer that everyone would make up there mind and begin to serve Jesus Christ. After all – why wouldn’t you want to give your soul to a man who loved you so much that He died for you! He lost His life for you to have life – for your soul to choose to live for Him or not!
Even when we have to battle the storms in our lives – the storms are only temporary – but our soul – if we give it over to Christ – is going to live forever!His love is amazing and I don’t know about you but I’m going to spend everyday giving my soul to the one who created it – and letting Him mold me and make me and shape me into what He wants me to be!

And the children sang....

Sitting today reflecting on my class on Wednesday night - the power of Christ through music and through children.

I teach the 5-9 year old boys/girls at church and on Wednesday night after having a great youth revival this past weekend I asked them what they wanted from God. --- What they told me amazed me -- they wanted to have a worship service in class!!!! So that's exactly what we did! Instead of just going through the motions of a lesson, fun time, and snack, we had church for there age group.

My mind reflects at the beautiful picture of worship that these kids showed. There was one of my students that really portrayed this to me. One young girl – she is 8 years old –after we decided to sing the song “Amazing Grace My Chains are Gone” – as we began to sing this song this 8 year old began to close her eyes, lift her hands and just pour her heart out in worship to her Jesus. That song is ringing in my head as I sit here today....

“Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me, I once was lost but now I’m found, was blind but now I see, My chains are gone, I’ve been set free, My God, My Savior, has ransomed me, and like a flood his mercy reigns, unending love, Amazing Grace”

Oh the joy that fills my heart and soul when I see the worship on those children’s face – and just knowing how important worship is to our Savior – and knowing that we must come to Him as a little child. I can only imagine the sweet aroma of praise that went up before God on that Wednesday night all because…..the children sang…..

Guest Blogger - I BOW BEFORE THE KING

I Bow before the King is words taken from a song. Bowing is more then an
external act. For it is possible to bow on the outside but not on the inside.
Possible to be bowed on the outside standing on the inside.
It's not the external motions he is after, the bowing of the knees the rending of the garment as in the book of Joel, but the heart condition. For as a man thinketh in his heart so is he. For where our heart is there will be our treasure also.
To bow, to the human mind set is a very defenseless position but it is a symbol of surrender, somebody else is in control. It is hard to defend yourself in this
position so there must be trust involved.
So as we bow before the King with our heart our treasures will have changed, our desires will have changed and also our dependences change.
"Blessed are the poor in spirit theirs is the kingdom of Heaven"
Poor are those who are totally depending upon God, they can have the kingdom of heaven.

Music a passion for worship

Very clear to some I’m sure is the fact that I love music. To me music soothes the savage beast. Music finds a place deep within my heart, deep within my soul, a place where I don’t let a lot of people into. Music is where my passion is. Oh sure for me there is a passion for a lot of things, but music is my passion that brings out my worship of Christ.
When I think of worshipping my Savior, many things run through my mind and are in my heart, but nothing brings out praise and honor to Him, my dear Creator, than a song in my heart. Christian music has always brought to me a way of communicating with the Master when I can’t express exactly what I want to say, well, there’s always a song that can speak those words deep within my heart.
Songs like Redeemer by Nicole C Mullen; the words to that song are so powerful to me, I love to just be by myself and singing that song with everything with in me. “Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning, and who told the ocean you can only come this far, and who showed the moon, where to hide until evening, whose words alone can catch a falling star. I know my Redeemer lives!”
Just singing the words to that song in my head as I type them just stirs something within me. I don’t know about you but I know that no matter what comes my way I KNOW THAT I KNOW THAT I KNOW THAT I KNOW, THAT MY REDEEMER LIVES!!!” He framed the worlds and spoke life into me. What more could we ask for, it’s by far way more than I deserved! Yet He loves me and that to me places a passion in my heart for worship unto Him more than ever before!

Promises from Lamentations

Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

This is a wonderful PROMISE. His compassions never fail.

When I wake up of the mornings, I can be assured that God will not fail me.


I wake up to new blessings. I am ready to enjoy the Lord and what he has for me today.

I am thankful for what he did for me yesterday, but today is a new day!


We can experience new thoughts, a fresh new walk with God and learn what he has for me now (today). And listen for what he is going to speak to me in this new day.

This is the day the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.(PSALM 118:24)

Be open to the Spirit of God.
Listent for his voice.
Talk to him.
Ask him what he has for you today and what you can do for him.

Be sensitive to where he wants you to walk today. So, at the end of the day you will know that you have done what the Lord directed you to do.

Not only will you be pleased, but God Almighty will be pleased with you.

Only the World

Have you heard the song by Mandisa, “Only the World”? Oh my goodness if you haven’t you need to. I absolutely love this song right now, it has ministered to me in so many ways.

Most recently the way I won’t forget that it has ministered to me is through a Girls Sleepover we had at the end of January. My cousin Jennifer spoke to the girls that night about how they needed to surrender everything to God because time is so short and things are wrapping up quickly and “It’s only the world” and were going to be in Heaven (if we know, love and serve Jesus) I sang this song to those girls before my cousin spoke and I tell you – I can’t sing it like Mandisa – but the words to that song ring in my ears how powerful to think:

“Been a hard one, been a bad one, been a tough one, been a sad one, it’s been one of those days that keep chipping away at my heart, nothing new here, it’s what I do here, it’s a stereotypical day in the life, I’m surrounded by all of the pain in the strife, but I know it’s all right.

It’s only the world I’m living in, only the day I’ve been giving, there ain’t no way I’m giving in ‘cause it’s only the world, I know the best is still yet to come, even when my days in the world are done, there’s gonna be so much more, than only the world to me”


Don’t the words to the 1st verse and the chorus of that song make you want to get up and shout – it sure does me! When I think of that song I think you know it’s true, no matter what our day has been like, no matter what we are going through. It’s only the world and the best is yet to come. Heaven is not that far off for the believer, I believe with all my heart that God is getting ready to tell his angel Gabriel, blow the trumpet, and look at Jesus and say, “Son go get my children”. Whoa! Glory! I can’t hardly wait!
